CONSTRUCTION WORKSHOP: SMOKING BOOTH
ARCH-331
Instructors: Adonis Kleanthous
September 2011 - December 2011
The idea was to create a concrete smoking booth, where your body will feel relax while taking a period with cigarette. This structure can be transfered to an any plots and find success not only ouside the building, but inside as well.
To create that smoking booth my group used frame structure of wood and steel grid inside. We provided all nessecary drawings to to calculate its strength.
We used a single-layer form, made of hardbord sheets and suporting metal net, on which we put the cement mix, which had to be rather thick to stay firmly on the cardbord foundation.
After the concrete gained its initial strength, we removed the wooden forms by unscrewing the chipboard panels and carefully retrieved the concrete details
We construct three in different sizes conctrete shells. To assemble our smoking booth construction we connected three concrete details with each other according to the design drawing. To do this we used 10X140 screw bolts with collars, which went through the decorative cover tubes, filled with construction foam to partially compensate for the compression between the details.
